Getting to our shop is about an hour and a half south on MN-61, with the usual North Shore footnotes: winter can add time, tourists can add patience, and one slow vehicle can turn the whole route into a group activity. From around Lutsen Mountains, Ski Hill Road, and the resort traffic pockets, the drive is straightforward even if the conditions are not always polite.

Deer move through the wooded sections around 61 and the side roads like they own the place, because apparently they do.
