Grand Marais is a real drive from our shop, about two hours down MN-61 when the road is clear and the lake is not making weather decisions for everyone. That distance is exactly why most Grand Marais customers do not come in for nothing. If someone makes the trip from near Artist Point, the harbor, or the Gunflint Trail, it is usually because the vehicle needs careful work and not just a quick buff-and-hope situation.
The route itself explains a lot of the damage we see. Highway 61 miles add up. Deer and other wildlife do not care that you were already late. Gravel, salt, freeze-thaw, and plow spray work on paint and lower panels all winter. Add trailheads, boat access, cabin roads, and tourist traffic, and a vehicle can pick up plenty of stories without anybody doing anything especially foolish.
Scenic 61 Auto Body is built for the jobs where details matter. Deer repair needs more than replacing the obvious panel. Collision work needs structure checked before cosmetics. Paint needs to match after years of sun, road grime, and North Shore weather. And the occasional restoration needs patience, which is exactly why we only take a few of them on at a time.
